This is a selection of wet cyanotypes made while an artist in residence at the Cedar Point Biological Station (CPBS) in Ogallala Nebraska. Over the course of my residencies at CPBS I experimented with the cyanotype process, solar cooking plant material and adding acid during exposure to achieve varied photographic results.
The work capitalizes on the historic foundation of cyanotype in botany and returns to my early experiences with conceptual photography. The resulting artworks exist in the liminal space between scientific artifacts, the painterly rendering of an unseen world of chemical reactions and the artist’s voice.
