Suspension of Disbelief

I collect discarded super 8 and 8mm home movies. I am intrigued by the lost histories and stories embedded in these forgotten documents. Twenty years ago I began to use them in my studio. Through photographic and digital processes, I extract and manipulate the hidden visual gestures, moments and meanings within these discarded personal relics. The resulting images, haunted by their cinematic origins, are photographic fictions that lie somewhere between actual history and the artist’s imagination.

This work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States.
